The Story Behind

Behind Norgardknit, you'll meet me, Kirsten, and my eldest daughter, Karoline.

I graduated as a fashion designer from Denmark's Design School back in 1999. For many years, I worked independently with my business partner on our children's clothing brand, Norlie. It was there my first love for designing knitwear really blossomed. Yet, ironically, I had never actually learned to knit!

That all changed in the spring of 2020. After a period away from my creative endeavors due to my youngest daughter's autism diagnosis, both my daughters took up knitting and inspired by them, I decided to learn to knit myself. This truly became a life-changing experience! My creativity, which had felt dormant, suddenly flowed freely again. Even before I'd fully mastered casting on, ideas were pouring in, and now, my passion for knitting has become my way of living.

Karoline helps out alongside her studies at Copenhagen Business School. She's a skilled knitter and an invaluable help with her speed on the needles. She's also the model in front of the camera and my sparring partner in every respect. Sharing this passion with her is truly wonderful.

Our selection of modern knitting patterns celebrates the understated simplicity in simple, feminine, and gently oversized silhouettes, all reflecting a modern, Nordic aesthetic. We strive to develop long-lasting designs and hope you'll love crafting your wardrobe with one of our patterns. We write our patterns to guide you step-by-step through the entire process, just the way we like a knitting pattern ourselves.
